The last wedding of the summer/fall season for me was last weekend at Montana's Chico Hot Springs Resort. Montana is truely a small state. Some of my past wedding clients were in attendence at the wedding. And that's not the first time this season. In fact, some weddings have shared some of the same groomsmen.

And again, I had great clients who made the day so fun for themselves and their guests.

In the coming days I will get some more images posted from the day. One of the last Beautiful Fall Montana Days.

Just got back from Mallory and Paul's wedding in Sun Valley, Idaho this past weekend. We narrowly missed the winter snow storm that pounded Montana. Still it was plenty cold in Idaho.

Mallory was so beautiful and sweet. And of course Paul is a great guy.

In a couple of days I will post a few more photos from the wedding after more editing.

Hey, Nancy at Fancy Flours is at it again. Her ginger bread houses are so very popular for the December Holiday season but she also has terrific gingerbread houses for Halloween, Valentine's Day, birthdays and birth announcements and almost any ocassion. Nancy says they are so easy to make that even Stana and I could make one. I think she is right.

Rocky was in the other day with his person. He came to us after a great shampoo and cut at Dee-O-Gee. What a sweet dog he is. Rocky can come hang out with us any time.

Every now and then someone hires me to do what I am best at. I can shoot a lot of styles and situations and I like the challenge they bring.

But what I love the most to shoot is black and white like the photographers who have inspired me: Richard Avedon, Cartier-Bresson and Irving Penn. [to see the work of these great photographers; click on their names] I think black and white gets to the soul of the person so much faster than color.

It's the work of these photographers that I try to keep alive in my own. So, thanks Lisa for asking me to photograph your senior portrait in black and white, a lá Avedon.

This weekend's wedding clients had the luck of some of the best fall color Bozeman, Montana can offer. A few days one way or the other and the colors could either be too green or the leaves could have fallen off the trees. If you were to meet the bride Shaelee and groom Tyler then be as happy as I am that the wedding was almost perfect for them. They such NICE people and so deserving of such a day.

The ceremony and reception took place at The Woodlands at Cottonwood Canyon southwest of Bozeman. The Woodlands can be an almost magical place tucked away in  a narrow colorful canyon and very private. The outdoor ceremony was one of the most colorful I have photographed. Every backdrop was a saturated autumn coloring of yellows and reds and oranges.

So Perfect!

Autumn is so fleetingly short in Montana. Now  that the colors have turned, we are photographing families with beautiful fall colors as a backdrop. We've started in the Hyalite area and are following the colors as they move into the valley floor. The colors will be gone before you know it and then our attention will turn to winter and the Holiday Season.

Well ,it's been a fun summer of photographing kids in Bozeman and other places in Montana. In a couple of weeks we'll head down to San Francisco to visit family and do some photography of kids there as well. Stana and I have really really enjoyed our time this summer photographing more kids than ever before. They one of our favorite photographic subjects.

Today's session was a fun time playing with a brother and sister in Bozeman. It's been good to get in these last outdoor images before autumn turns to cold winter soon.
